I saw plenty of statements by countries’ bishops today marking HV. Relevant Radio basically dedicated the day to the anniversary.

Nothing from the Vatican today?

no Good grief would be abbreviated GG and Get over it would be abbreviated GOI

Given the Winnipeg Statement I’m glad the Canadian Bishops have updated their stance. Things don’t generally happen overnight in the Church (though of course several other similar statements have likely been made in the years since).

Thanks for all those who have responded. From what I can tell, there was no mention of HV by the Vatican within the past week to mark its anniversary. Perhaps one was originally planned, but when new abuse scandals emerged it was deemed better not to mark the occasion. Who knows.

I don’t think Humane Vitae is a very popular encyclical or teaching in the Vatican’s currently. Nowadays it is probably considered too “rigid” and “legalistic”. They would rather the anniversary go unobserved, most likely.

There are many encyclicals that go without special recognition at different age milestones. Not a big deal.

This would be heresy. Of course it’s still part of the perennial teaching of the Church.
