The Who 50th Anniversary back in 2013 was a HUGE deal. Shame about Trek.
I wonder, did the good Doctor get any recognition from the Vatican at the time?
 
The owners of the franchise probably consider it to be dead; but when has that ever been an issue to the Holy Church???🙂

I thought this weird at first. Then I wrote it off as the editor of the paper being a Trekkie. Then I actually read the article. In the context of the time, the Vietnam War, racial division that makes today’s situation look like a daycare tiff, and the Cold War, Gene Roddenberry was able to convey a message of hope for the future.
