Vatican to stop politicians from receiving communion

I was watching the news today and they said that they Vatican is meeting to discuss the possibility of adopting a policy that prevents some politicians from receiving communion.

The sad thing is that the new media here in Canada basically tried to make it seem like no one is going to take it seriously.

They even said that the Catholic priest that Paul Martin goes to will continue to give him communion regardless of the churches teachings.

My question then is this. Is the Catholic Church going to remove priests like this? It would seem to me that if you don’t listen to your boss you should be fired.

The church should publicly excommunicate those who call themselves Catholics and preach another doctrine.
 
We’ll see. The news media in Canada, much like the general news media in the U.S., tends to twist and massage things to what it would like things to be. Who knows if they even got the message correct in the first place?
 
I know that the Bishop’s synod is opening in Rome on 10-02-05. The Bishop’s were given questionairres on some of the difficulties that they would discuss. This may have been an idea put forth by some of the Bishops for discussion. I heard this information on EWTN today from Denver.

The issue of rule by the Pope was large in the Kennedy presidential election in 1960.

I disagree.
Many of my Protestant friends ask why these people are still in our church if they are promoting things that are against our teachings. With Pope Benedict in power, I have heard more Protestants cheer when he makes a statement about the “Leaner, more devout Church” than be appalled. The protestants I know like someone who is resolved, as the head of their church. Many of them are lacking true leadership. I’m married to a Protestant who left the Presbyterian church for that reason.

The Media wants to push the agenda you are siting. This is not 1960. Do you think that people vote for someone exclusively because he is a Catholic? Then why not give the Protestants more credit.

I’m very sure that Rick Santorum has won his seat in PA with more than the Catholic vote. He is about as militant Catholic as a public figure can get. Only the media, who wants the whole country to be San Francisco will push the Pope vote. And they will whether B16 makes this ruling or not.
Look at John Roberts. I can’t count the times I heard on the news that he was “Catholic”. What do you think they were saying? “Ooooo, puppet of the Pope” “Ruled by Rome”.

It didn’t work.
