It can’t be a combination of those two. If it were, it would be read as:

“Vatican-anus”

I am not a Latinist, but I have studied some latin on my own. The stem of the word Vaticanus is ‘Vatican’. Based on it’s declension, Vaticanus can be written as ‘Vaticana’ or Vaticanum’. In other words, the only things that change are the letters after ‘n’ in Vatican. This mean ‘anus’ has nothing to do with it, since the stem is not ‘Vatic’.

In short, the author of that site appears to be trying to fit a meaning into a word, almost like taking the word ‘therapist’ and breaking it into “the + rapist”.

Also this page I created explains why the harlot of Revelation 17 cannot possibly the Catholic Church, since I affirm it is Old Testament Jerusalem.

While the Latin word vatis/vates do mean “prophet” or “seer” or even “poet”, and while there is a word anus which mean “old woman”, “matron”, “hag”, “sorceress” or even “foolish/cringing person”, the actual origin of the word Vaticanus is unclear – others think that the word actually came from the Etruscan language (which is not a surprise, since the region of the modern Vatican, on the right bank of the Tiber, originally belonged to the Etruscans before Rome finally got hold of it).

Plus, there is another anus in Latin which means “ring”, “circle” or even that lower opening of the digestive tract…but I guess since that one is rather crude and because we need all the ‘evidence’ we can get to make Catholics look bad, they stuck with the “old woman” anus.
