Did anyone veil their statues this past Sunday? I just remembered that it was this past Sunday, and not next Sunday, so everything in my room is covered in purple, and that which was too small or too large has been put away till Holy Saturday. I read about this a few months ago and thought the symbolism was perfect.

Anybody else do this?

Many parishes do this on the 5th Sunday of Lent, which is the traditional Passion Sunday, when the statues were always veiled. However, many other parishes veil the statues for the new Passion Sunday, which is combined with Palm Sunday, or sometimes only for the Triduum.

in my house? no I haven’t even dusted for a couple of weeks

I remember as a child the statues, crucifix etc. would be covered in purple until Easter.🙂

Here is a picture I took last Sunday after Mass ran by the F.S.S.P in Sacramento, Ca. I posted this in another thread last weekend.

My parent’s parish removed the Crucifix, erected 3 crosses (sans corpus) and veiled everything the first Sunday of Lent…
But they still have Holy Water!
