Veiling of Holy Images during Lent: Ash Wednesday - Easter Vigil acceptable?

I know that the standard for the veiling of holy images is usually the Fifth Sunday of Lent until the Easter Vigil. However, I know some parishes have them covered from Ash Wednesday until the Easter Vigil. Is this appropriate?
