I occasinally go outside to venerate my icons with incense etc. Is there a proper way (ie. prayer to say, way to move the censor etc.) that I can do this? There must be some format, no?
I’m pretty sure there is no specific ‘formula’. Just be sure you are venerating that which the icon represents and not the icon itself (I’m sure this is that case but I just want to get the semantics right).
The purpose of the icons is to draw us deeper into prayer / meditation on a specific person / event ect. Think of them as a prayer aid, like music during a workout. Not necessary, but it can help motivate, and no specific process, formulas, or techniques needed.
