Since we call the Catholic Church as our Holy Mother Church, is it theologically correct and proper to venerate her in the same way we venerate saints?

Peace, so be it.

When we venerate the parts we are already indirectly venerating the whole. We respect and honor the Saints who are all members of the Church triumphant. Since we venerate them, are we not in this sense venerating the Church of which they are part of?

Second, is not the Church the same as the mystical Body of Christ? If we venerate the Church, the head of which is Christ, and whose body is the Church, are we not venerating the mystical Body of Christ Himself?

In that way we are merely giving Him the respect and honor due Him, as Head of His Church.

Gerry 🙂
