Veneration of relics - Ark of the Covenant?

I thought that worship was for God himself, and veneration is the same as worship. You know the old dulia and latria issue?
The Ark of the Covenant contained the rod of Aaron that had budded, and the hidden manna, and the stone tablets.
Can’t all of this be considered veneration of objects?
Why then were the Rod of Aaron and the Manna placed in the Ark, if not to venerate them?
Even if they were placed in the Ark to remember what God had done for them, it is still venerating objects that were not God himself.
 
From Merriam Webster:

veneration: respect or awe inspired by the dignity, wisdom, dedication, or talent of a person

Definetly NOT worship, at least in the modern sense.
 
The reason I mention this is because in a James White - Patrick Madrid debate, James was saying that the bible forbids any veneration, and said that nowhere in the bible is veneration of relics, images, or icons shown. I thought that this, even though not exactly the same, does show veneration for objects.
 
Atually the ark of the covenant was actually a representation of God’s throne of heaven…this isn’t even veneration,they never prayed to the ark of the covenant,the stone tablets and the manna bread…catholicism on the other hand tells people to pray to the statues which is strictly forbidden in the bible…to say that the ark of the covenant represents veneration gravely misunderstands scripture…

Could you substantiate that with a link? I missed it someplace in 70 years of Catholic study.

No, we don’t actually pray to statues…

errr… actually that is COMPLETELY false. Catholics do not pray TO statues. Please learn Catholic teaching before you misrepresent it. Catholics petition saints who are alive in Christ and ask them to pray to Christ for them. That’s it. We do not believe that the statue has any power to help us, nor do we believe that the saints themselves have any power of their own to help us. They only have powerful prayers to ask Christ to help us.

So, speaking of grave misunderstandings… better work on your own.
 
Didn’t the Ark also house )for lack of a better word) the presence of the Holy Spirit? Any veneration accorded to it would have been justified.

Former catholic here,don’t know why he got banned but I do agree catholics do pray to statues…we are told to kneel down on the statues of saints and the virgin mary and ask for their intercession…no need to deny it.
