Hi!
I understand the correct use of Holy water can forgive venial sins. You purify yourself as you enter the Church for Mass. Then at the beginning of the Mass the Confiteor is said and that is also said in order to be forgiven of venial sins. Then the Communion comes and that too is said to forgive venial sins. Why do we have 3 different rites for forgiving venial sins in half an hour? (the priest also washes his hands in Mass, this too I guess forgives his venial sins so that makes another rite for the priest still to achieve the same goal) Is Communion like God’s plan C for forgiving our venial sins if our repentance during plan A and B wasn’t proper? Or is it like a back-up-plan in case we sin venially after the Confiteor? Why do we say the Confiteor if Communion will forgive the venial sins? Bla confusing - say something! Thanks
