Does anyone know the exact translation of Veritas Domini? I know Veritas is Truth and Domini appears to be Lord? How does it work together though. Thank you!

Veritas Domini means the truth of the Lord. The words appear in the shortest of the Psalms 116 in the Vulgate or 117 in modern translations. The Vulgate version has been set to music by many composers and appears in the “Adoremus” sung at the end of Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Many years ago as a boy soprano, I sang Mozart’s setting at the rededication of our cathedral which had been rebuilt after WW2.
Code:
Laudate Dominum omnes gentes
Laudate eum, omnes populi
Quoniam confirmata est
Super nos misericordia eius,
Et veritas Domini manet in aeternum.
Although it makes wonderful poetry, the Vulgate is not an accurate rendering of the original Psalm. The Jerusalem Bible gives us the far more clinical:
Praise Yahweh, all nations
extol him, all you peoples!
For his love is strong,
his faithfulness eternal.
