This is written by a flight attendant–they now receive special training to spot people who may be being transported. She also describes how some “massage parlors” are used as brothels and the signs to look for: bars on the windows and security cameras aimed toward the door, and a generally unwelcoming appearance.

Yes, a lot of people see prostitution in the US as voluntary. I once thought human teafficking was something that happened overseas, not here. But here it is…

The second article was an overview of how the businesses work, how the law enforcement works, etc. I thought the first article was very important because of how it gave signs people could understand if they saw them. The second didn’t focus on that, bit did mention the helpfulness of the report of comments made by a couple of men as they left. So even something that simple can help.

I should especially be on the lookout for this. KC is allegedly a crossroads for human trafficking, being in the middle of the continent. It’s a major doozy that this stuff is happening in my neck of the woods!

I’ve heard that those ostensibly normal-looking hotels near interstate exits are also hotbeds for trafficking and prostitution.
