I see from time to time a service called Vespers. What is this? Could someone help me please?

Vespers is the evening prayer of the Church. It is a Latin word. The Church has what is called the Liturgy of the Hours. In the Middle Ages there were 9 of them. Today, many people pray the 3 main hours–Matins or Laud in the morning, Vespers in the evening, and None or the NIght prayer right before bed.

Here is a link to a beautful site which offers the Liturgy of the Hours for every day. Vespers would be the “evening” prayer for each day.

Scroll down to “booklets”, and when the page opens you’ll see (today) links for Thursday, Mar. 10, Friday, Mar. 11, etc. Open up Friday (you’ll need Adobe Acrobat, can download it free), and then you’ll see links to “morning”, “day”, “evening”, “night”, and the Office of Readings (which can be said at any time of the day).

I hope you’ll enjoy saying them. You can either print out the booklets, or read them. It’s not too hard after you get the hang of it; the pages are like in a booklet, there’s a left side and right side. You start on the first page reading the right side, then the second page you read the left side, third page the right side, fourth page the left. On whatever page is the last page (it’ll be an even numbered page) you start with the left side, then read the right side OF THAT PAGE, then go back up to the next page and read the LEFT side, then go back up to the next page and read the RIGHT side, etc. Trust me, you’ll be able to follow when you see it.
