VH makes rock and roll hall of fame?

OK, like, if any of you guys know my conversion story that was in This ROck mag back in OCt. of 99, you know that my hero was eddie van halen instead of Jesus when I was in high school. I was a nerd, and so because i couldn’t play football, I decided i would “be somebody” (to borrow from father Korapi) if i could play guitar. I once joked (because I was ultra smart) that i’d be the first nuclear physicist/heavy metal guitar hero.

and I got pretty good, even now, some 15 years from my guitar prime, I can do pretty good impressions of eddie, randy rhoads, david gilmour, a little jimmy page. But praise the Lord I never went down that road. Those men may be able (or were able) to play astoundingly, but alot of that music is hell-bound. There are countless VH songs that condone revelry and fornication. Makes me scared for them. i once red a scary book on purgatory that told story of a guy who didn’t get out of purgatory until his immodest paintings were destroyed. Good God Jesus help us, what will modern rock musicians do even if they repent: the above guitarists have probably sold millions of copies of sin. Will they have to remain in purgatory until every last record that promotes sin is destroyed?

Kind of makes me think I should burn my own records that i"ve kept.

What you suggest would be like saying that If a man murders someone and repents and receives absolution, and dies, he stays in purgatory until the victim comes back to life.

I don’t think the church has ever taught that we aren’t forgiven of our sins even if the fruits of our sins remain. If one repents and receives absolution through confession, the sins are completely absolved even if the fruits of those sins remain.

At least that is my understanding of it.

I don’t know, the story was not public rev, it was (supposed) based upon a private revelation, one that I do not know was approved or not. it was from a small book called: “Purgatory, read me or rue it.”

In the book, the story goes that in the Middle Ages, there was this painter, who, in his youth, was less than devout, and in such condition, he made a painting that was at least somewhat immodest. Well, anyway, later in his life, he became more religious and made many wonderful religious paintings. Meanwhile, all during his life, his original immodest painting is supposedly viewed by many people. well, anyway, finally, just before his death, the immodest painting winds up in the possession of one of his friends. So the painter dies, and then some time later, he appears to the friend who has the painting and the friend sees him in misery and suffering. So the friend asks, why are you in this condition? the appartion of the painter responds that he is in torment in purgatory because his painting still exists. THen the painter recounts how when he died, he went before God, and the demons plus many people that went to hell because they saw his painting and were induced to impure desires that led them to hell, argued that the painter should be in hell because his painting was the vehicle for their damnation. On the other hand, Mary and the angels and saints argued that he should be forgiven because he repented and that he went on to make many holy paintings. So, evidently, God’s verdict was that he would be saved but that he had to remain in purgatory until the painting was destroyed so that it could not ruin any more souls. and so hearing this, the living friend had the painting immediately destroyed, and later, the guy reappeared, saying he was able to get to heaven because of that. Look, I just read em. I don’t write em.
