I was just wondering if anyone here is into video games. I’ve got a PS2 I play from time to time. I bought a new Dell for Christmas so I’ve gotten back into PC gaming again. Old favs like *Call of Duty *and ew ones like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. SO what about the rest of you?

I indulge when I can find the time.

It’s mostly PC games although I have several old systems: the original Pong, Intellivision, Atari, Nintendo, & Nintendo 64.

I like thinking games like the Myst series (I’m on the 3rd and own the 4th) and the likes (played part of Schizm). I also like the “shoot 'em up” types. The latest one I played was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

I’ve only played the original Myst and thoroughly enjoyed it. I used to love Medal of Honor and all the expansion packs until *Call of Duty *came out.

I enjoy video games but only on the PS2 or X-Box. I vowed never to play a computer game again after playing Hearts of Iron and a couple of other games locked up on me after investing weeks of playing. You’re then told the game needs a patch and then when you look on-line you find some people are more into getting the game running right then actually playing it. One company sent me a download on how to fix the game and it was like 11 pages long. I threw the new game right in the garbage.I don’t think games should be released until they are bug free. That’s why I stick to PS2 and X-box. I would list all the computer games that I couldn’t finish but it would be sucha long post CA would need a patch to post it.

I have no idea why my posts don’t bring the thread to the top…

I can understand the frustration. I was reading no too long ago that X-Box will eventaully start shipping out games sooner with the option to download patches via X-Box Live. Go figure. That was the one thing I enjoyed about PS2: no patches, no add-ons.

In elementary school, I liked to play Warcraft II and Descent. Computer games don’t really interest me as much anymore. I might play a round on PS2 if I’m at a friend’s house but I’d much rather talk. I always find it entertaining when friends ask me to get their computer to run faster. I try to clean it out, but the whole harddrive is filled with games that they would kill me for deleting. Oh well, I guess the same could be said for somebody going through my mp3 collection.

I will admit, however, that I have a home network, and friends used to come over and we would play Warcraft over the LAN…wow was that fun.

I used to play video games all the time. Infact I played them way too much and it became an addiction. Many others can play a little just fine and have lots of fun with games. Just like some people can just have a glass of wine once in a while and be alright with that and others need to stay away from any form of alcohol.

Also, the choice of games I played were not very good, I would play things like Grand Theft Auto Vice City. I now have no games around and I do not own my own computer so I usually do not have time to play computer games. The machines I use at the library and workplace do not have games loaded into them anyway.

For those who enjoy games, I hope you continue to do so. Sometimes I miss games, but overall think my life is better without them.

I used to do a lot of PC gaming, but slacked off because they began to eat up all my time. Among my favorites were:
  • Civilization
  • Age of Empires
  • Caesar III
  • Cleopatra
  • Sim City
  • Half-Life
  • Army Men
The only PC game I play anymore is a downloadable version of Stratego called The General. It’s pretty retro, but doesn’t take more than a few minutes to play each game:

X-box man. I had the PSX2 for awhile but sold it. Right now I picked up a beat-'em-up strategy game Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders.

It is a fantasy setting, but as the setting is a theocratic nation called ‘Ecclesia’ and one of the characters complained that she had to go to some podunk town to attend mass, the reference to Catholicism is unmistakeable. They are supposedly the good guys in this game. It remains to be seen if that holds up as the story progresses, or if it goes the boringly predictable route and portray the church as a bunch of sleazy conspiritors. I’ll do a full review when I beat it.

Those were the days when you would play hookey and skate to the arcade, then spend hours challenging your buddies to all the classics. Bet for all your quaters. That was when points still mattered. Those were games you could totally space out on. They turned me into a little spazz.
So, i’m still more of an original NES fan or collector. Atari was just too junky. Although I also suscribe to the PS2, Game Cube, Dreamcast, and the old 80’s and 90’s systems. Video Game nerd all the way. They should have CATHOLIC VIDEO ARMAGEDDON!!!
Somehow…

Age of Empires was great. They’ve got a 3rd one with graphics that’ll blow your mind.

My husband and son are addicted to Medal of Honor right now. What makes Call of Duty better? Is it something I might think about for a gift for either of them (and will I ever see either of them emerge from the tv again?).

Graphics are better (compared to Allied Assault), better AI, feels more like a movie. The next big one will be Brothers In Arms. It’s a tactical shooter and the based on a true to story. Check out this site: brothersinarmsgame.com

I’m a huge fan of Civ. Been with it since Civ 1. Sid Meyer is just awesome. And the remake of Pirates! should be out soon on X-Box!

I mostly let Final Fantasty XI steal my time away from ore productive endeavors.

I rented Pirates! for the old Sega Genesis and loved it so much I told the video store I lost it, paid through the nose for it, and played 'till my corneas hardened.

Can’t wait to get my hands on the new version! Avast ye! 👍
