This is a must watch video! This is in Chicago during its National Anthem. It’s been a 40 year tradition at every one of its home games and still going strong.

I doubt you have ever seen anything like this at a sporting event. The enthusiasm during the National Anthem is terrific.

It’s hard to get the exact feeling while watching the video but if you are in this environment your arms just fill up with goosebumps.

Have you ever heard anything louder at a sporting event? for 40 years straight?
 
Gee I live in Chicago burbs and never heard of this. It was nice seeing people so enthusiastic about our anthem!!!
 
that is pretty amazing!

It reminds me of a WMU Broncos hockey game from this past fall. When it came time to sing the national anthem, the mic refused to work! After watching the vocalist fiddle with the mic for 15 seconds or so, you could begin to hear some singing starting up in the far corner of the student section. By the time you could make out the lyrics “By the dawns early light” the ENTIRE student section of over 1000 kids was singing. It took all of maybe 2 seconds for the rest of the arena, 4000+ people, to join in. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

You probably never heard of this because the only way you would know is if you attended a home game.

The Blackhawks had never televised their home games on television in Chicago until this year.
 
“1979” Played for the Final Time Across From Wrigley Field

“1979” was the last song ever played by the hometown band, the Smashing Pumpkins at The Metro across the street from Wrigley Field in the small intimate setting in Chicago’s Wrigleyville.

I think the Loudest place on Earth is Autzen Stadium here in Eugene…

There have been college coaches that came here saying they have never been to a stadium that was that loud.

Then again…I haven’t watched this video yet…

I remember when that happened! It was Steve Dahl, who went to WLS after leaving WRIF in Detroit.

Gosh, that brings back memories. 🙂

Chicago sports fans are nearly as rabid as Detroit Sports fans. 😃
