Well, they are still very useful if you have them. I started out with a mid-50’s St Joseph’s missal. One of the easier to use, and still with a bit of extras, sans the latin translations of the propers.
Perhaps the biggest negative with many from that time and even a good many now are the covers. If it is used week after week, especially day after day, without a slip cover, the covers are likely to start to fray/unhinge. Mind you, this takes some time. Hard covers are prone to this. I know my Fr Lasance missal I bought new back in 98 holds up very well(it has a leateret cover, and is not fraying. Even with this I put a zippered bookcase over it, it being on the thick side.
I think the Angelus missal refered to may have a better cover as well.
By all means, if you got one of the old ones, make good use of it.
