I’ve always detested M-rated titles. I tried two of them when they first came out (sheer curiousity, mind you!), and they didn’t impress me much. Without the gore, Mortal Kombat is just another fighting game and Doom is just another First-Person Shooter. It’s terrible. And now, cannibalism is included in the atrocities. Ugh. When are the companies going to learn that in the long run, this just hurts them more? And besides, there’s way more E and T rated games that are lots more fun (Final Fantasy series, Katamari Damarcy, Pac-man World, Soul Calibur series, Tekken series, Crash Bandicoot series, etc. to name just those on PS2)

That’s ironic–I just posted on a thread a few days ago how inherently better Soul Calibur is as compared to Mortal Kombat…

I would just like to add a few Gamecube titles to that list of games you posted:

Mario Kart Double Dash!!
Tales of Symphonia
Baten Kaitos
The Legend of Zelda
Super Monkey Ball
Super Smash Bros.
Fire Emblem

You picked two of the worst ones. Try Half-Life 2 or HALO.

Being M-rated doesn’t make a game bad. Half-Life 2 and Halo are perfect examples. Amazing story, amazing gameplay, amazing graphics, amazing amazing.

Now the GTA series is garbage. Don’t even get me started.

This thread is in response to the release of Stubbs the Zombie. It lets you eat people’s brains. Do we really need a game like this? Shooting a zombie’s bad enough, I don’t want to be one. 😃

Hrm. I’ve never heard of this game, but it sounds pretty bizarre.

Personally, I like Diablo II and I think it’s rated M (I suspect because there’s a semi-naked female demon that’s too small for any real detail). It’s a bit dark, sure, but at least you’re fighting the demons, not becoming one. Not every game with an M rating has it because gameplay forces the gamer to vicariously do evil things. It’s like R-rated movies. Sometimes the subject matter just isn’t suitable for children.

On the other hand, although I haven’t played many M-rated games, I suspect that, again like R-rated movies, most of them are morally objectionable.
