After Jesus was born Mary must of had must of had relations with Joseph. How could she remain a virgin in the churches eyes. George

I just don’t understand why people think sexual relations is #1 in this world. Once you get the point that God is #1, everything else is trivial.

Very true! We weren’t made for sex, we were made for communion with God.

I think it was Alex Jones who made the statement: “If you were St. Joseph, and you knew that Jesus was conceived by Mary and the Holy Spirit, would you touch her?”

Cheers.

im not going to go through a rehash of all the notes i’ve made on this subject in various debates. on my other forum we discussed this in some detail with a protestant and he admitted that Mary remained a virgin and that the exegisis he had learned was incorrect. the thread with that debate is here and contains a great deal of information on this subject (I’m paul h in that forum):

edit: the best parts are towards the bottom when we were discussing with paul wilson, although one should read the whole thread to familiarize themselves with the tenets being discussed in the latter half.

When the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she was to bear a son who would be called Son of the Most High, Mary replied: “How can this be, since I do not know man?”
(Luke 1:34).

Mary was betrothed to Joseph at this time, yet she is asking how it can be that she would bear a son. It sounds to me like she had taken a vow of perpetual virginity and that Joseph was aware of that.

Sacret Tradition tells of her perpetual virginity… I can’t see what’s so hard for people to fathom… Religious people remain celibate all their lives… it’s no superhuman feet here… if it were not true, then tradition would have said otherwise… don’t you thing Apostle John who Christ entrusted her to would have written or at least said (oral tradition) if it were otherwise?..

don’t get hung on the little things… 👍

Thank’s a lot for those web sites, they really helped a lot. I live where there is more fundamentist here than Catholics and it’s an ongoing debate about our beliefs. George 👍

St. Jerome wrote an argumeent responding to Helvidius’ claim that she wasn’t a virgin all her life. Here is a link to a site that has it. I can’t give the exact address because all addresses on this site are the same. This pamphlet was written around 383 AD.
