I bought a book about these visions, starting from 47 A.D. I think the Church has approved all these visions too, and the others are not included.

Anyway, I feel drawn to Mother Mary lately, I have never really prayed a rosary before, lately I want to SO bad. I feel like I hardly know Mother Mary. I want to know more about her, meditate on these mysteries, begin to pray more. That is one thing in my life that I know God is displeased with. 😦 I don’t pray as I should. And I have a severe case of OCD (so they say) and it always frustrates me, makes me sad, But lately I want to pray so bad, I feel inspired to. The rosary (I would love to see Mary in a vision but I also think I’d be too frightened) and Eucharist adoration.

Just wanted to share this is all 🙂

Get a good scriptural rosary meditation booklet. The OCD frustrates your prayers? I used to repeat prayers so much I lost my courage to pray----until I decided I didn’t have to pray “perfectly”— I painfully examined myself to see if I was praying with attention, and I** never measured up—and I would HAVE to start over (in tears)…I decided (over some years I got over it) that it is okay if I am “human” about “losing my train of attention” in meditation— I just put myeslf back on track, and DON’T repeat.
Sr Lucia even said that she often felt distracted, but took comfort in the fact that she
lifted the rosary
, which* is *a prayer in and of itself(the lifting of the rosary is an act of faith and belief in the mysteries God). Take comfort in that.

I certainly hope that you recieve every special grace you pray for.😉

I must say that reading the visions and watching movies about Saints really make us want to live a holy life.

When I was first getting to pray the Rosary, I was thinking about the vision of Mary when I would be dying. I hope to see the Mother - this helped me into praying the Rosary and trying to be a better Catholic. So, it was the vision that triggered my devotion.

However, over the time, I have come to realize that the vision is not what I should be seeking. Because if it is, I might’ve quit rosary soon for vision might never come. We should pray so that we have a better relationship and devotion to Her, to know what She wants of us, to know Her intentions - this will last - and furthermore, the more you are closer to Her, the more you will be closer to Jesus. Where Jesus is, Mary is.

God bless.

The thing about Mary that I realized is she is quick to lead you to her son and then fade away. I am consecrated to Mary, but I don’t feel a great devotion to her as she so quickly taught me about her son, Jesus. She is my mother now, but she is so quiet. Maybe I take her for granted. Maybe that is the way she wants it. If I where to see Mary, I would be looking over her shoulder for the Lord. It is not something I can help, I love her, but the wonder of the Lord is so overpowering. Tim

Wanting to “see” the Blessed Mother or Jesus or angels is a pretty common desire for whatever psycholigical reason a person might give. But the blessed Mother comes to give messages for good reasons—there is always an important message for the good of everyone.

Even if you were to receive a vision, it could not be something to verifiably rely on, because those kinds of things have to be looked into. If you read further in the lives of saints who recieved private revelations, they were at times instructed to ignore the visions for fear of diabolical intervention. It was tested, (looked into) by those in authority before it was believed.

Read Fr. Groschel’s “A Still Small Voice” about this kind of thing. And personally, I wouldn’t hope for anything more than what God offers me than my boring life since it is already strewn with enough troubles. Those roses (i.e., visions) come with some mighty big thorns.

To further your knowledge of our Lady, I recommend St. Louis de Montfort’s “True Devotion to Mary”, available free here at EWTN online.

You can buy the book too. It’s wonderfully organized in numbered paragraphs, good to read just 1 or 2 any time! 🙂

Ok, thank you. I am just really high lately with God’s Love. Even though I must go to confession tomorrow because of my stupidity, I nevertheless still feel Him. And I feel very strange, happy, to the point of not wanting anything to die, and to “feel” more of God, perhaps through revelations. I guess I need to be protected.

You will do fine—and don’t say that you are stupid for sinning, because then we will ALL have to say we are stupid, you see? 😃 Many of us think we are pretty cool—okay I am just trying to make you laugh.

I am so happy for you that you feel Him. you are not unsual in wanting to keep the feeling or of wanting to “see” more—I wanted that too, but decided it wasn’t such a good thing after reading some of the trials these saints with private revelations went through.

God will give you exactly what you need, but if He takes it away, it is because He knows you are stronger than you think.

You’re going to make me cry! 🙂 I love you my sister in Christ. Thank you for your kind words.

Do know a website where I can look up imformation on these "thorns’ when the saints saw visions?

I know it would probaly be frightening, but…until lately I have felt…dead. Spiritualy dead, with NO hope, no love, just darkness. Everyone around me (except for my brother) has turned from God, or cares not to talk about Him. I am constantly around negativeity at my job, and slandered constantly, ALWAYS being called “dumb a**, moron, stupid, can’t do ANYTHING right,” etc. The closet one in my life has turned away from God, other people close to me are telling me the Novus Order is basically “sinful” and the Church is falling away. I am always doing chores , so many thingss to do around here, things I didn’t ask for but have accepted, even when I’m sick I STILL have to do them or they won’t get done. Then I’m mocked again at work, always always mocked, loved ones are sick, I always feel alone, and worst of all, I HAD NOT FELT GOD IN YEARS! I turned away from Him. Was angry, really REALLY angry.

Now He’s touched me and I do not want it to end. I feel like a child. I need Him. I don’t want to feel that darkness again. I’d rather take on these “thorns” than to feel absolutley nothing again. Ah, I’m a little frightened I just spoke that. I don’t want to suffer, only keep this feeling of closeness to God. For the first time in my life, while being a Christian, His presence still is with me even though I sinned. I am really looking forward to confession tomorrow.

Sorry, I just started to rant. Caught up in emotion.

I know you must have this great desire to depend on some “feeling” of God—it almost seems unfair to you that it must end, if it must—it was you counted on in this world. I suppose you feel a little disillusioned about the differences in opinions and also contention within your own religion, Catholicism. It can be discouraging to hear it. Just attend mass, and do the best you can.

I don’t know of any websites about visions. You can beg God to give you this favor, but I think it won’t work. I have had an emotional disorder for years, and have not “felt” God. I guess it is hard to have any real experience of God because of all the rubbish in my head. I just pray, read, and hope ( or hope the best I can—sometimes this is a little impaired too). I used to beg God to give me some tangible sign that I was “okay” with Him…but it never came. I just had to learn to go on without it. I believe now He has wanted me to live without it, so that I would help myself. Really, if you read the life of St. Therese of Lisieux, you will find some comfort in her Little Way.

i don’t want for you to feel like i overlooked the fact that people abuse your kindness( you taking on extra chores) or the fact that they call you names----I am so sorry this happens to you. I won’t insult you with a religious platitude, because you have been hurt, and it is easy for you to BUY the abuse and think you are bad: you are not bad—I see that you are a good person who searches out the FACE of GOD. I just pray you accept the way he wants to show Himself in your life for thes sake of your peace of mind.

Thank you. I know the “feeling” won’t last forever. I’m sorry if I am talking about it too much. I was just excited because I have never “felt” Him like that before. I’ll accept whatever He wants, whether to literaly “feel His Presence,” or to not and just continue on walking the journey.

Today was a difficult day for me. Before confession, during confession, during Mass, and on the way home, something was crushing the life out of me. I was scruplous, didn’t feel I explained everything “exactly right” during confession, a little voice in my head (did you say everything perfect? You left that part out didn’t you? You didn’t say that or this did you? Oh you did? No, you did not. God hasn’t forgiven you." I couldn’t concentrate on Mass the entire time. I couldn’t feel God AT ALL! I was becoming so angry from my thoughts, lack of focus on my Lord, I felt i couldn’t spiritualy breathe, and was just in a terrible mood when I got home. My wife even noticed. I just don’t understand.

But I’m a little better now. I’ve decided to trust God. I am sorry for what I did, and I asked Him to forgive me at confession, that I sinned willingly against Him, offended Him, as asked Him to forgive me. I meant it, for my sins, no matter if I spoke the right words or not. I am just trusting Him. And I feel better, more content.

I was wondering if it was me, or lucifer trying to take me away, or God testing me.

Anyway thanks for your kind words.

You are welcome—and you are not talking too much about it----you are validly searching for God in your life. God Bless You and your wife.🙂

added: you know what is good about your experience with scrupulosity? You know you have it, and you helped yourself just fine. I have had this same thoughts you have, and have decided to trust God in the darkness of faith, that I said everything I had to say and so forth—and leave it at that. It is a hard choice to trust in darkness, but you did it ! SEE?? :extrahappy: I believe you ARE stronger than you think.

I sure can relate here Tim. This is what happened to me and as a Lay Carmelite I am consecrated to the Blessed Mother. She brings us to her son. I truely believe that once I started to say my Rosary, Our Lady brought me to Jesus and how to pray from the heart. I think the Scriptural Rosary Meditations are great because they are Scripture Quotes to pray and then with the Hail Mary after each Our Lady helps us to let the Word seep into us. But I find it is not so much how many but the prayer in the heart. I
