Hi there! I am discerning my vocation at the moment. And I have done a lot of looking around for a possible religious vocation! I have come across a lot of religious communities, traditional, habit-wearing and all that which is a must in my book. I was wondering if any of you may know of some more communities - maybe some I missed, which may be a hard thing to do (I’ve looked into soooo many). Could you give me a list of the ones you know? Strictly contemplative doesn’t seem to be right for me so I am looking for active/contemplative and missionary. I thank you very much! One more thing. In my discerment I have come across many different versions on how the process should be done. Do you have any pointers for me, too. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you again!

The Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart (motherhouse in Alhambra, CA; houses in Miami and Coral Gables, FL, Steubenville, OH, and in Arizona and Colorado.
The Nashville Dominicans are a really great order. Several years ago (during my discernment) I visited and really loved the Carmelite sisters in St.Louis: carmelitedcj.org/ They are a mix of contemplative and have apostolates, my favorite being their child development center. I wish they were in the city where I live now so my future kids could go there. They’re an incredibly joyful and growing order.
This order sent several of their sisters to college while I was in school, and got to know them fairly well: mariansisters.org/ and this order too: altonfranciscans.org/
Both very orthodox orders with sisters very happy in their vocations.
