Hello!
Does anyone know of any Catholic summer volunteer programs?
I already know of Crossroads Pro-life, totus tuus, helping out with franciscan conferences, life teen summer camps volunteer… I’m wondering what else is out there. I already served two years with NET and I think I want to do something next year (for the summer). Anyone know of anything overseas?

Approx 6 weeks ago I became a volunteer Chaplain’s Aide at our local Veteran’s Administration hospital. We have 2 Protestant Chaplains (full time VA employees), 2 Catholic Priests (part-time volunteers), and a number of on-call Clergy from various denominations, The Catholics have the only formal religious services, Mass 3 times weekly. The Protestants have a number of volunteers who perform individual “Bed Side Prayer Services”. I volunteer twice weekly visiting with patients who get no visitors; preparing the altar for Mass; bringing patients from their wards to Mass and returning them to their wards afterwards; taking my turn as Lector at Mass; and visiting Hospice Patients. It doesn’t have the “glamour” of overseas or missionary work, but it is the most fulfilling and satisfying work I have ever done. Consider volunteering at your local VA or military hospital.
