is it important to vote for pro-life candidates at state and local levels when it was federal case law (Roe v. Wade) that effectively made all state and local laws limiting abortion unconstitutional?

Why?

Yes, because when Roe v. Wade is overturned, it won’t outlaw abortion. It will just kick the whole thing back to the states. Even local officials, especially those in roles such as DAs, county prosecutors, judges etc. are important.

Yes, it is. It is the states now that are restricting abortion.

Oh, yes it is.

The last city I lived in was run by very pro-abortion people, and Planned Parenthood was able to get such a strong foothold in that area it was just plain scary. The city even put up planned parenthood banners along streets during parades and city events.

I now live in a city with a catholic pro-life mayor and it’s very different.

Just remember that local governments are supposed to reflect the local community. They make the zoning laws that determine where businesses can be located (for example, they can decide that “adult businesses” can not be located within a certain radius of a church, school, or public library).

They also decide who gets building permits. This was recently a BIG issue in Aurora, IL, when Planned Parenthood decided to open a facility there. See the link below for more on that story:

It is also important because the local officials often will be candidates for federal office, so it is important to have the “farm team” be composed of pro-lifers.
