Um, should Catholics really care that much about biodiversity?

Saw this video before. I think Catholics should care but they don’t do anything about it, just like most people. I just think of these things happening as the natural consequence for human sins against the world. God help us.

I’ve gotten used to Vox and others trying to patch a lack of facts with a good narrative.

This video doesn’t really say something is definitely happening, it just paints a picture of what some people think might be happening and leaves out other parts of the discussion. It leaves out discussion of things like increasing mosquito population, population density, etc. It assumes that the species that are left are going to be the ones that are the best vectors for disease.

Basically, the video is written to be more eye catching than informative.

Beyond the biodiversity question, I think the encroachment of human civilization further into wild areas is also a problem. There exist a number of animals that are reservoirs of diseases. Certain human activities accelerate the spread or mutation to human pathogens.

For instance the seasonal flu is thought to jump across livestock lounge ducks & pigs comingled in some countries. Ebola exist in bats. Bubonic plague in rodents of American forests. And of course the threat of antibiotic resistant e coli and salmonella from factory farming

In the case of the current virus I am more concerned about the expansion of “gain of function” research in bioweapons labs!

Dr Chris Martenson reports on the views of a Sweedish microbiology expert in a 5 minute clip here and in this short segment about the history of zinc and coronavirus research here.

If you watch those clips you will be saddened by the evil of some humans.
