The march today was a hit! I was so happy to see so many pro-lifers in San Francisco. I met such wonderful people. Funny thing is it was 90% Catholic. I expected to see more Protestants. In any case there was about 15K of us and a few hundred pro-abortionists. You should have heard the things they said to us. Can’t repeat it here. We were so well behaved. There is such anger on the other side. I just smiled and listen to the rosary being prayed all around me. It was heaven…

I loved how the media claims there were a “few thousand” pro-lifers. The pro-abort protesters were much fewer this year, and while it was still mostly vulgar, it was far less confrontational than last year. I didn’t see one priest get spit on this year!! 😃

My sense it while the media and pro-abort lobby says their low turnout was due to apathy on the part of the pro-choice movement, the dirty little secret is that their support is dying out and getting gray. My sense is also that they were a little deflated over being outnumbered again.

It was a wonderful event, sad in that it has to be done at all, but wonderful to see the peaceful witness!! Thanks to all who were able to make it, and if you weren’t able to come, thanks for the prayers!!!

What a wonderful witness to all Jennifer123 and cmejia!! Please tell us more about your March for Life. I saw some footage of last year’s march on “Life on the Rock”. What a scary group of opponents you had to face! God bless you all. If you have any pictures, I’m sure we’d all like to see them!

Wow. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Very interesting. And God bless you guys for doing the march. 👍

I’m considering going to the one this year but have a possible schedule conflict. I know the walk starts at 11:00am. Does anyone who has been there know how long it will last, roughly speaking?

Thanks.

Please go!! I can’t this year as my husband works on Saturdays right now and I don’t think I could handle my 2 kids by myself at the walk, I’m soooo bummed.

Anyways, in my experience the walk lasted about 4 hours. If I remember correctly, we ended the walk at Marina Greens at around 3 pm?? Then we had to make it back to our car parked near Herman Plaza, the start of the walk. Basically for us, it was kind of an all-day thing. Plus there may be problems/issues depending on how many marchers show up the activities of the protesters, I remember last year the walk was held up because protesters blocked the route and had to be arrested. That took a while. 🙂 But since the usual suspects are being told to ignore the walk (I think they can’t stand the light, personally) there may be less of that this year.

The walk technically won’t start at 11 as there are speeches beforehand, but I’m not sure if you could get into the city and make it to the plaza if you waited until the “last minute”.

Here’s the route map:

Meddle Bolger, 30, and Nicole Brennan, 21, both of Berkeley, support abortion rights but chose to march with Walk for Life and try to engage people in conversation. They didn’t advertise their stance.

Bolger asked one marcher what he thought about the hangers people were carrying, and the marcher replied, “That’s a terrible choice to force onto somebody.” Bolger said he doubted he would have received such an honest reply if he had been trying to convince the man that his position on abortion was wrong.
I read the article in the San Francisco Chronicle and it would seem neither the journalist nor the student from Berkeley understood what the pro-lifer was saying.
[sign]Abortion is a terrible choice to force unto somebody.[/sign]

Did you see the pregnant pro-abortion protester who had written on her belly “my baby is pro-choice”-sick

I also went on the SF March for the first time. It was AWESOME! THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PRO-LIFERS - AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS MORE!!! Of ALL ages - There is a photo journal in this website that captures the Beauty of the day. I was shocked that the local news did not show anything that night! ;(

I looked for coverage but it didn’t lead on any of the local networks which is surprising considering there were upwards of 20,000 people in the city streets. I didn’t catch a lot of the local stories because they were placed somewhere in the middle of their broadcasts. What I did manage to catch, they all basically said that most of the marchers were from out-of-town. Okay.

But I saw the KRON4 local story, and I have to say even for SF it was one of the most biased stories I had ever seen. I knew it would be bad when I saw the sour look on the reporter’s face from the beginning, but she spun the story to basically say that Planned Parenthood and other choice groups are currently working to save women from cancer. Like that has anything to do with the Walk for Life, but there you have it.

Bigots go home? I don’t get it.

My baby is Pro-Choice? I don’t get that either.

West Coast Walk for Life just put up an ariel documentary of the event!

They have some great photos too.

Wow, it sounds like it takes a lot of courage to be Pro-life in California! I was at the Washington March and we had about 200,000 pro-life marchers and I saw 1 pro-choice sign all day. I didn’t hear one word of dissent… In fact, I would venture to guess that ours was about 90% Catholic too. I saw the pro-choice pregnant woman on the news and thought to myself… Hmmm if a baby could choose to live or leave it up to the mom…which would it be? Pray that mom isn’t selfish or that this isn’t an inconvenient time for mom to have a baby? I don’t think so! I think the baby would choose life. Face it, so many things can and do go wrong in pregnancy… the baby always fights to live! I am so glad for all that went to the march in SF! I just wish this wasn’t in January…it was cold in DC!

I read a lot of posts on this board where the line between practicing and forcing our own religious beliefs blur the line.

Sometimes people take it upon themselves to push their own values on others unwillingly.

That said.

I think things like the “Walk for Life” is a beautiful thing.

It shows true unity and the love of life the way it should be shown

I want to say thank you to all who went and supported the right to life.

The watched the “Life on the Rock” summary of this march and it looked very grace-filled. “You’ll know them by their fruits” I think aptly describes both sides from this march. It’s a shame and very revealing that the pro-abortionists had to resort to the gutter to try to get their point across. In contrast, I heard that the marchers were very respectful and silent in prayer and reflection to remember this most tragic of days.
