I didn’t care for the film that much, but Joaquin Phoenix was quite good as Johnny Cash.

But the best thing about this picture was Reese… she was simply magnificent as June.
 
I agree, there was good acting but i thought the movie sucked as a whole. It just glorified tons of immoral behavior…yeah it sucked.
 
Great movie. Immoral behavior was not glorified. The effects and results of that lifestyle were clearly shown. :rolleyes:

I thought that, cinematically, the film was inartfully handled by Mangold. Episodic to a fault, flat cinematography, overwrought situations (sure, it’s based on his life, but it can be handled in a way that makes it not seem like a Movie of the Week). But I still can’t say enough about JP and, especially, Reese.
