I am planning on sending some Christmas cards to prisoners

I will enclose a short note and would like some of your favorite quotes
to go with.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Peace

John: 11;25-26,

Jesus said,
" I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me though he dies; yet shall live, and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die." God Bless, Memaw

I’ll give a couple. This first one is maybe long, but one of my favorite expressions of the Gospel, and in particular the Incarnation.

Philippians 2:5-11
Have this mind among yourselves, which was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Colossians 2:2-3
Christ, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

My two favorites:

“21 But this I will call to mind; therefore I will hope:
22 The LORD’s acts of mercy are not exhausted, his compassion is not spent;
23 They are renewed each morning—great is your faithfulness!
24 The LORD is my portion, I tell myself, therefore I will hope in him.
25 The LORD is good to those who trust in him, to the one that seeks him;
26 It is good to hope in silence for the LORD’s deliverance.”
(Lamentations 3)

16 Rejoice always.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
(1 Thessalonians 5)

Come to my help, O God; Lord, hurry to my rescue.
~Psalm 70:1

In Saint John Cassian’s book The Conferences, he recommends that this Psalm be used as an unceasing prayer, precisely the same way The Jesus Prayer, or Prayer of the Heart, is used. It’s discussed explicitly in Conference number ten.

This is my favorite quote too. I love how verse 26 ends with a question “do you believe this?”. It’s central all of Christianity, do you believe Jesus is who and what He says He is.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7

Thanks guys for some great quotes, I plan on using a few when I send some cards.

Peace brothers and sisters…
