I want to walk away from the church, but at the same time, I know it’s the truth, so I don’t want to

Kind of like how a 6 year old child wants to run away from home because he is unhappy about the way his parents view him/treat him, but he is also aware that his parents are the ones who will feed him and give him a place to stay, so he stays.

I guess I need some reassurance that this is normal, lol. 🤷

Look at the world 😦 tis quite common.

I think the real question is why?

People have different motives…

Sometimes they are improper understanding like the scrupulous thinking everything they do is a sin. Sometimes it is simply a person unable to deal with the people who are in the church. Etc…

These are not reasons to leave God IMO but rather reasons to realize the truth of God vs the false impressions of humans

The best reason to leave God is that if God is not real. But I know it’s not true.

Like how running away from home because your mother took your brother’s side in a fight is a stupid idea.

But I’m so grumpy at everything lately. I am really tired of being confused, I just want a phome call with Jesus lol

I could be PMSing or something, but I also feel pretty mad at God for other reasons. I feel so immature but oh well 😦

Dear Lea101,

Hello, I had this trouble in the past as well.

I’d recommend visiting a faithful priest who you identify as holy and learned in the faith, and discussing these problems with him.
By the way there is something much better than phone calling Jesus, it’s called prayer! Talk about these problems with God Himself, who through prayer converted atheists
As you visit this priest, which I assume is near a Catholic Church, why not visit the Church and spend at least 15 minutes before the Blessed Sacrament?

“There is nothing so great as the Eucharist, if God had something greater than Himself, he would have given it to us” St. John Vianney

If you receive the Eucharist in a state of grace (after a good confession, if you are in mortal sin) and the other requisites, you won’t be texting or merely talking to God, you will “become one with God like food for the body”!
So, I’d recommend talking to a priest about any problems you have

God bless and grace you

I’d further recommend reading a good catechism and the Holy Bible more, to clear doubts and to pray with. Even if it’s 20 more minutes that you may add to reading these materials, much better than nothing.

2 Great Catechisms:

I think trying to more fully surrender to God’s Will is what can usually help with this. Usually people want to run away because of a struggle. But God has allowed struggles for us as part of His direct OR permissive Will, to help us become Saints. In running away, we would not only leave a state of grace needed for salvation, we would never become who God actually made us to be. Trials and difficulties are part of this. Try to reflect more on God’s Providence… There are books like “Abandonment to Divine Providence” which are very good. God bless you

Since every single church believes they know the real truth, I think that 6 year old, once they hit 18, should be free to attend any or no church they wish.

Truth is not relative and we were not created to do our will, but God’s Will. It is pride that prevents us. As Christians we follow His Will freely and out of love.

The true Church has certain marks by which we know its true. Faith in that is a grace a person can seek and cooperate with. The Catholic Church is the one that was there in the beginning, and others split from it, which we can see by history.

But is it?

I mean we can only sorta think He isn’t. And aside from what I mentioned above, what harm comes from following God?

If and big IF, God is not real and you follow God no biggie.

If God is real then not following God is a biggie.

Even if you can’t reconcile something, it is better to sin facing God with love than to sin with your back turned.

But truly I don’t see the basics causing issue. I mean discounting scruples there is not much about being Catholic that hinders a life. Discounting personal choice to go headlong into super mode… but no one says you have to be a nun or anything lol.

And actually even if contrived… again big IF. But if so the general tennants are pretty logical at least for this stage in human developement.

In a world of ignoring sexual sin we have 1/4 people with an STD, over 50% of children raised of broken homes and a majority with hostile parents.

You are supposed to put in effort at things not be a slothful glutton…

And people are supposed to be kind and help eachother.
(Which is funny because from a selfish standpoint, if you go about being selfish you leave a wake of enemies gunning for you… if you are not, you leave a wake of people who some of which willbe there for you should you need help, and none gunning to bring you down)

Basically everything set forth by God is just smart. The only difference between what God says and modern self help info is God vs not God involved… and even at that most not God science suggests getting some form of “higher power” because it has a benificial psychological effect which could be argued as divine presence or psychological phenomenon…

But either way it all adds up to God is good via religion

God is good voa science

God is just plain good.

Now one could possibly argue finer points toward denomination from an outside perspective, but I have done a good bit of study and can say the CC seems to be accurate at things whereas I can pick holes in everything else I have seaeched 🤷

And then there is the interesting thing about an arguement for the divine guidance that is supposed to guide the CC. It is always sensible in its teaching.

Sometimes its people are whacky I might agree, but what is doctirne is never so 🙂

:hug3:

Of course it’s normal, dear one.

When I get frustrated with my parish, or with disciplining myself for the sake of following Church teaching, or with using my mind and strength and heart to serve God through serving my son and my students and my friends… AUGHHHH!!!

I just say to heck with it all. I shut it all out and just whine and complain to Our Lord. Or I just sit silently with Him like an adolescent girl who’s mad at her parents but has to be in the same room with them anyway. 😊

Sitting in the church or adoration chapel – whatever is available in your area – is brilliant, because nobody is talking to you or expecting you to join in communal prayers. Just hang out in the silence with God, with whatever attitude or mood you’re in. God’s love is big enough to handle our bad attitudes. ❤️

“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life.” (John 6:68)

God bless you!

Adoration is a good idea 🙂 we probably all feel like that sometimes!

A moment of frustration is a common. It happens to most of us here and there. The temptation to give up. Or the temptation to hurt ourselves by throwing out everything meaningful from our lives. Just in spite.

And I mean a minute of frustration’s no time to be trying to make change choices anyway. So ease up on that and settle a bit in this. Know that without God your world of purpose and meaning shrinks to handball size. Your sufferings’ also end in vain. And your world-long relationships are just temporary shadows passing you by.

So hang in there. You can settle out of this. Just breathe deep. And know we’re here for you too.

And besides. We’d miss you. :console:

Peace Lea. Get a good rest in. And then come back and let us know how you’re feeling.
