I apologize if this is the wrong forum to post this in.

I’m 28, no college degree. I’m looking to do some missionary work / volunteer work in a place where a ray of hope is needed. Don’t mind if labor is involved. Don’t mind not getting paid. Where do I start / apply?

I’m not exactly rolling in money so I couldn’t afford a plane ticket / rent / food where ever I would be sent.

Do any of you guys know where I could begin with all the info I’ve given you?

Some placements will reimburse travel expenses AFTER completing the term, but I don’t know that any will give a plane ticket without knowing the person will work out.

Some also provide room and board, and some, a stipend.

In order to offer you any concrete suggestions, especially given your limited resources to travel, it is really essential to know what part of the world you inhabit.

If you haven’t done so already, volunteer in your area and local parish or with any Catholic charity organisations nearby.
In the country I’m in, to volunteer overseas you need lots of experience in a certain field and have volunteered in your local community first.

Yep. Why not prison ministry? You will not be physically traveling, but it is a quite an emotional experience to be on the inside of those walls, even for a bit.
