“We Are Family” Video For Elementary Kids

This Friday, March 11, a video called “We Are Family” will be delivered to 61,000 elementary schools nation- wide. If you have children or grandchildren in the public schools, you need to be aware about this video which is put out by the We are Family Foundation (WAFF), a pro-homosexual organization. Organizations like WAFF often use the public school system to promote homosexuality to young children.

The “We Are Family” video, under the guise of promoting “tolerance education,” comes along with a teacher’s guide to discuss the video. This guide encourages a discussion with school children that aggressively normalizes same-gender attraction and same-sex marriage. There is also a recommended reading list for children, including illustrated children’s books promoting lesbianism, “Heather Has Two Mommies,” discussing artificial insemination, and “Daddy’s Roommate,” which includes an illustration of two men in bed together.

The American Family Association reports that, before it publicized the true motives behind the “We Are Family” video, WAFF had statements on its website about openly promoting homosexuality as a normative lifestyle to school children and using the video as a vehicle to do this. On WAFF’s website, there was also a “Tolerance Pledge” to be signed by the children that they would respect homosexuality and work against “ignorance, insensitivity and bigotry.” After the American Family Association (AFA) spread the word about the truth behind “We Are Family,” WAFF quickly removed controversial materials from its website, except for the tolerance pledge which was altered from its original format.

“Evidently WAFF did not want parents to know what was on their site and in the teacher’s guide,” said a spokesman from AFA.

If you have children in the public school, and are concerned about the “We Are Family” video, here are four things the AFA recommends you should do:
  1. Ask another parent or a small number of parents to join you. Contact your school’s principal. Ask him or her if they plan to show the “We Are Family” DVD at school.
  2. Ask if the teacher’s guide will be used in facilitating any discussion, and ask for the opportunity to review the teacher’s guide.
  3. Ask very specifically if the subject of homosexuality will be brought up by teachers or discussed if brought up by a student.
  4. If the school assures you that homosexuality will not be discussed, thank them politely. If you are informed that homosexuality will or may be discussed, ask for permission to sit in on the discussion. Invite other parents to attend with you. A good school will welcome involvement of parents.
Capitol Resource Institute would also like to remind you that you may “opt-out” your children from instruction on homosexuality. In order to access an opt-out form, which we recommend all parents do if they are concerned about their moral views on homosexuality being undermined in the public schools.

Thanks for the heads up.

My children go to Catholic school, but I still like to know of these type of developments.

JAmes interesting. The news on AOL made it seem harmless… 😦

The opt out form couldn’t be found on the web site of the organization mentioned but it is located at savecalifornia.com/getactive/exemption1.php. It was developed for use in California.
Thanks. I’ll be using it. 20 years ago, this movement didn’t seem like such a threat. I had the attitude “live and let live.” But that’s not their attitude. They’re not content with tolerance. They want full blown approval. What gives them the audacity to think they can come in and mess with kids’ minds?

Yes and we all know how important tolerance was to Christ: how He did go on and on about it…

Thanks James!!! I called my kids’ school yesterday morning before I brought them in just to make sure the movie was not being shown. The principal assured me that the content of the movie was absolutely NOT part of the school’s “curriculum”. Appreciate your warning very much.

God Bless

Yes. Thou shalt be tolerant with your whole heart, your whole soul, your whole mind, and your whole strength.
