Warning! The New 'Muppets' is Not Family-Friendly

Disney is certainly nothing like it was when Walt Disney was alive and the Muppets are not what they were when Jim Henson was alive.
 
Yeah that’s true there is no such thing as a good family friendly show anymore
 
I checked the article out because I know my mom was a fan of them, I’m going to hate to break this news to her.

The mature version of “The Muppets” will cover a range of topics from sex to drugs. Miss Piggy came out as a pro-choice feminist during an MSNBC interview. The puppet characters loved by kids in the 1970s and 1980s and beyond are now weighing in on interspecies relationships and promiscuity.

In the 1992 film “A Muppet Christmas Carol” Kermit the Frog (Bob Cratchit) is married to Miss Piggy (Mrs. Cratchit) and the result is Tiny Tim who is a cripple.

Are we not surprised when natural law is violated by interspieces carnal relationships that such abominations as crippled offspring occur? Where were the million mothers 23 years ago? 🤷
 
The pro-choice thing was a joke in terrible taste, but Miss Piggy never actually said she was. Someone asks her if she’s pro-choice and she awkwardly deflects saying she’s pro everything.
 
The negative “warnings” I’ve read are all based on interviews about the show, not on a single actual episode. “Perverted” the article claims. “Full frontal nudity” is used as an example. As I recall, they are puppets. And I thought Donald Duck pioneered “full frontal nudity.” His nephews, too.
 
Right. I’ve actually watched the show. Honestly, it’s more a Muppets rip-off of “The Office” than anything else, with the business being a TV studio. On the show, Miss Piggy is a late-night TV show anchor, Kermit is the producer, and the rest of the Muppets are cast and crew on Miss Piggy’s show.

Nah, Donald and his nephews only went for partial nudity – they did wear shirts, after all 🙂

I kinda soured on this new Muppet show after jokes that hinted at the Swedish Chef being transsexual and Honeydew and Beaker being gay lovers. That really wrecked it for me.

At the same time, having some familiarity with the 12-step program, I did get a chuckle out of Zoot mistaking the staff meeting for a 12-step meeting 🙂

The other thing I’m not fond of is it being another “industry show”, like so many others, set in the insular bubble of Hollywood/New York TV/film production. I get “write what you know”, but really?

Meh…there’s been a lot of interaction between different species of characters (in terms of animals exclusively) in children’s programming the last couple of decades, and growing up with much of it, I didn’t see the harm, because it was really all done in good taste. Plus, we’ve got Star Trek where different aliens are married to each other, so…🤷

Today’s media is not really done in good taste. I feel like some of the new cartoons are always pushing certain boundaries and I’m not sure if it’s an active attempt to change the culture or if someone really is trying to be funny. 🤷

Oh, don’t let that bother you. :pshaw: This obsession that some North Americans have over homosexuality means they see it at any opportunity.

They’ve said the same thing about Batman/Robin, Kirk/Spock, Bert/Ernie and people who have stable marriages and lots of kids. :rolleyes:
