Was any of this a sin?

At school, some people I was with started saying how one person looked like a snail and another (one in the group) looked like a mouse. Then one said to not be afraid of one of the people in the group and to be strong. During all of this I was thinking about my Confession I will have and how I will ask the priest if what was going on was a sin. Was any of this a sin?
 
I would like to be helpful, but I’m not entirely clear on what you mean. And what part of what you are describing that you consider a sin. Was it that you thought someone was being bullied and you didn’t stand up for them? Anyway, if you could provide some clarification…
 
It could have been? Were they saying it to be mean? If you were ‘making’ fun of them, then yes it was a sin against charity. Intent has a lot to do with it.
 
I think if you disagree with what the insulting person said and took pity on the offended people, then you’re going well.
 
I think they were saying it because it was funny, not really meaning to make the person be sad since I don’t think they told the one who they said looked like a snail. And I am asking if anything in the entire post is a sin. I am sorry I was so unclear. I am not good at writting about my thoughts clearly.
 
It matters not if the other person heard them or not, or even if they ever find out; the intent behind what was said is the question. If what you say is said to be mean, to demean, to ridicule someone then it is a sin against charity.

For instance, if I say my wife looks like a deer because she’s timid, but beautiful… that’s an edifying thing. There is no sin in that. If I say my friend though, looks like a hippo (not because he’s strong or gentle, like hippos can be) but because he’s heavy… then I’m being mean.

To say someone looks like a mouse, small and timid, but still beautiful (some people find them to be beautiful, especially the little field mice.) That wouldn’t be bad… but to say someone looks like a mouse, because say their teeth are large and unsightly… that’s rude… and yes, a sin.
 
Even though I’m still not completely clear on the situation, it would still qualify as a venial sin, not a mortal one.
