Was C. S. Lewis a Catholic?

A friend said he was and I wasn’t sure because he taught at non-Catholic universities.
 
His having taught at non-Catholic universities is irrelevant, but C. S. Lewis was an Anglican. Although his theology was very Catholic-friendly, and he was good friends with Catholics such as J. R. R. Tolkien, Lewis remained somewhat antagonistic toward the Catholic Church all his life.
