Hello Everyone, I went to confession last Thursday for a couple of mortal sins. The day I committed them I was sorry, but I felt like I was lacking sorrow in the confessional, but I Wanted forgiveness soooooo bad. Was I forgiven because I wasn’t sorry enough in the confessional and on a previous day instead, or is the desire to receive forgiveness and avoid the sin in the future sufficient to be forgiven? Thanks

Welcome to CAF. You were forgiven if you were either truly sorrowful for offending God (perfect contrition), or sorrowful for another reason, such as fear of hell (imperfect contrition). The heartfelt desire to avoid the sin in the future is necessary lest we become presumptive of forgiveness which is a sin in and of itself.

Well it was all inspired by the fear of hell so I’m good, thanks

The desire to be forgiven and avoid sin (repentence) is actually not only “sufficient”, but the essential part of “being sorry”. The emotions of sorrow which you seem to be associating with actual sorrow are actually the extras. It is good to feel sorry, but not necessary, and frankly it’s not something we always have control over. As long as you will the sorrow and intend never to sin again, you’re good for the purpose of Confession.
