Was Jesus of Nazareth a pacifist? If so, are His discliples called to be pacifists as well (except perhaps in the case of self-defense)?
Jesus’ only “act of violence” I’ve found recorded in the NewTestament was when he overturned the money changers tables and drove the animals out of his “Father’s House” that the money changers had turned into “a den of thieves”. I’ve found no act of violence by Jesus directed against a HUMAN being. He preached love of enemies, turning the other cheek, putting away the sword (when Peter cut off the ear of someone that came to arrest Jesus), etc. While we must “render unto Ceasar” what is the government’s right to ask of us in time of war, we can as aconcientious objectors, do so in non-combatant roles, e.g., ambulance driver, doctor, chaplain.
