Was Mary free from sin her whole life?

I attended a Bible Study today with a mix of Catholics and non-Catholics. We read Luke 2 and one of the ladies said, “Can you just imagine how angry Mary must’ve been when she finally found Jesus in the temple? I’ll bet she just read him the riot act.” All the ladies chimed in about what they’d say if that had been their 12-year-old son. I bravely said, “I believe Mary expressed sorrow, but I don’t think she got angry because anger is a sin and she lived a life free from sin.” Many ladies disagreed with me. They said anger is not a sin, it’s an emotion. They also said that Mary did not live a sinless life. I’m pretty sure I’m right, after reading some postings on this website, but I wanted confirmation. Thank you very much!
