Was Moses and Elijah in heaven before Jesus died on the cross?

I think they were in heaven because they appeared in the transfiguration conversing to Jesus. Does anyone else know?

Elijah is alive and Moses is dead.


Moses would have been awaiting Christ opening the gates of Heaven.

The transfiguration was meant to show the fulfilment of the Law and the Prophets in Jesus Christ. God likely brought them in spirit from Abraham’s bosom not Heaven. The gates of Heaven had not been opened yet.
