A few months ago I planned to commit suicide, I wrote a letter, had a day picked out and everything. Thankfully my support system was functioning, and I was place in a mental hospital before. I am getting help and in a much better place. I am just wondering since I did not physically harm my body should I confess it?

Dear friend,

Even though, objectively speaking, the taking of one’s own life is a mortal sin, the very fact that you needed professional help shows that you were not really yourself when you were completing suicide. You were in a very confused psychological state and not able to make a free choice. So no, you do not have to confess it.
