Was St. Peter Burned Alive?

If not, then how did the Church ever know he was actually martyred? Do you wonder whether St. Paul was beheaded too.? The Church has always taught that St. Peter was crucified and Paul was beheaded and the Teaching Authority of the Catholic Church IS Infallible. God Bless, Memaw
 
Why would someones “idea” about how Peter died, be allowed to throw doubt on something the Church has always taught!! Like I said, Jesus promised that His Church would never teach error. I’m with the Church. God Bless, Memaw

What you have just said is completely untrue. The Church does NOT infallibly teach that peter was crucified. That is simply a lie.

Concerning the manner of Peter’s death, we possess a tradition—attested to by Tertullian at the end of the second century (see above) and by Origen (in Eusebius, “Hist. Eccl.”, II, i)—that he suffered crucifixion. Origen says: “Peter was crucified at Rome with his head downwards, as he himself had desired to suffer”.

Are they “lying” too. And this came from Catholic Answers. 2,000 years of teaching, that sounds pretty solid to me, considering Jesus said His Church would not teach error. God Bless, Memaw

Memwaw, I hope you just had a bad day because I didn’t expect this from you.😦

That Peter was in Rome is a big T tradition. The way he died was a little t tradition, like whether his body got torched while he was crucified upside down or yada yada yada.

What makes you think I’m having a bad day??? What I put in my last post came from Catholic Answers and I do NOT lie. One may not agree with me but that’s their choice. Like I have said before, I stick with the Church. Nothing has EVER been said that Peter was “torched.” Maybe you should check and see who is having a “bad day.” Mine is going just fine.
