Somebody told me about a history book on a female pope. Did this really happen? Or is this another DaVinci code type of thing?

No it never happened.

Patrick Madrid’s Pope Fiction article. Look at Fiction 4.

This is a Real Audio version of Patrick Madrid’s Pope Fiction episodes on EWTN that talks about Pope Joan

This is where you could download free Real Player so you could hear Real Audio files

Thanks. It didn’t sound right to me but I didn’t have any information to dispute it.

How do you deal with people who are doing everything they can to spread error about the Catholic faith?

I work with a lady that was raised Catholic and she is constantly encouraging people to read books like Pope Joan, the Davinci Code and others. Is it best just to pray for her? It is sad because I see so many other people being led astray by this type of thing but don’t know what I can do if anything.

Print that Patrick Madrid piece and tell her how stupid it is to believe Da Vinci code because Da Vinci code attack Christianity as a whole not just Catholics. Many Non-Catholic writers already published books to debunked Da Vinci Code.

Here’s Part One of Envoy megazine special report on Da Vinci Code by Carl E. Olson (he also has a book debunking Da Vinci Code). You can read part two here. Print them and hand them to her.

If she doesn’t believe Catholic then you could always get her non-Catholic books that refuted Dan Brown’s fiction. (There are some but I can’t link you on top of my head).

Oh, and pray alot for her

You can also remind her that the DeVinci Code is a work of FICTION. Which means its not TRUE. And that the authors “Research” is part of the FICTIONAL Story, not reality.

I know the DaVinci code is fiction but a lot of people are not reading it that way.

When do you defend your faith and correct error? There is so much error out there and so many people that are Anti-Catholic. This person was raised Catholic but I would definitely consider her Anti-Catholic now. It makes me nervous defending my faith at work, because there are so many anti-Catholics there.

There are also so many people who will believe anything they see in print. As if putting something in print automatically makes it true.

I listened to all of Patrick Madrid’s Pope Fiction talks. They are really good. In fact I sent her the link to listen to the one about Pope Joan, though I don’t know if she’ll listen to it or not. I don’t get why people read something from one source and take it as true.
