Someone I know wanted to text someone I knew, because this guy is immature and likes to mess with people (not in any harmful or sexual way). I used to be into this stuff, but not anymore. I learned a lot about my faith and grew a lot as a person. However, I still do immature things at times. This girl that I know is someone who has drifted and we no longer talk, so I had mentioned her name which was my fault. But, than I thought about it and didn’t do it, because #1) she might think I have something to do with it, and #2) just didnt want any drama or do anything that might be sinful. Well, he kept on insisting, I said no and than I said that I would show him her pic… so i sent him her pic just to see what he thought. She’s not the prettiest person in my opinion, so I thought it was probably not nice to do that but I was curious about what he thought. He asked again to text her, and I said that I don’t like any lying, so he informed me he wouldn’t lie. I told him to just say hi, and he said ok. I gave him her #. Was this wrong ? Should I confess?

For this, I would suggest reflecting inward. Ask yourself, “What concerns do I have about this? Why am I feeling it might have been wrong?” Only you can know your motives. Did you knowingly open the door for a young woman to get hurt?

I offer you my prayers of discernment.

Spoken like a true mom.

And she’s right. Why are you even questioning this? Probably because you already know the answer to that question.

Yes. I’ll tell you how it sounds to me. It sounds like you caved int o pressure from someone you didn’t really trust and allowed him access to someone who can easu ily be harrassed or hurt by him. This person who pressurred you is not your friend, or he would respect your decision in the s first place.

Sending her picture was pretty nad, but the slippery slope starts when you don’t stabd up for your best instincts (which is reallt y the Holy Spirit speaking to you) and allow the topic to continue.

Confess, yes. But first, call the girl, let her know what you did, tell her how sorry you are if she suffers from it and take responsibility. THEN confess. But mostly, figure out what this betrayal of trust gave you, how did the Liar manage to tempt you into all this gossipy ugliness in the first place? So, now you feel bad, your friend has probably sinned also, the girl maybe hurt.

This is a very good lesson for you and God can turn it into quite a positive thing.

And just my advice, but I’d find a friend who shares your values and respects your decisions and doesn’t try and manipulate you.

Good post, very wise of you to not just ignore your feelings about it. That’s the spiritual maturity part of the deal. I wish I had been so smart when I was younger.

First, call the girl and tell her what you did. That way she can block this guy before he starts teasing her or whatever. Yes it was wrong of you to show this guy her picture and give him her number without asking her. You also know he’s at least a prankster and may be cruel, so you owe her for that.

Then go to confession. If your inner guide, or the Holy Spirit, is telling you that something is wrong to do, THEN DON’T DO IT. You’ll bet better at it over time. But this experience may cost you a former friend. Learn from it.

Well, I just thought it was immature, and not really nice. But, I didn’t know if it was sinful or wrong, and that’s why I am posting. I knew the guy who wanted to mess around wasn’t going to say or do anything bad, because he assured me he was not going to lie, and he also said he would just see if she herself would just text back on her own, without him doing it first. I trust that he wasn’t going to lie or anything, and he didn’t. He told me that it ended very shortly, because the first thing he texted was “hey whats up”, and she asked who it was, and he said his real name and than he said sorry. That was all that happened. He just thought she was going to go on more, because I was told him how she wanted a boyfriend real bad.

Do you all think I should still call or text her and let her know? We don’t talk anymore, and now that it ended shortly with their conversation, she wasn’t hurt or anything (by the way, that was NOT at all my intention, nor the guy who was going to text her). When I say mess around, I don’t mean he was going to tease her and say mean things, but rather just see if she would start a conversation and see how she talks/what she says.

I learned my lesson though, and won’t let anyone manipulate or tempt me, even if I think it’s just immature and not necessarily a sin. Thank you all for your advice.
