There has always rows over things like harry potter and the golden compass.

I’m currently watching and enthralled by an anime called Kekkaishi. And it’s a very spiritual show, with akuma (demons) and ayakashi (bad spirits) and gods. The ep that I’m watching has the god of the land of Kurasamori. But obviously this show isn’t concerned with the god of Christianity and is in fact by default rules him out and doesn’t exist in the universe of the story, because then it wouldn’t make sense.

And then when i think about it more brilliant anime like Bleach which i completely ignored even after like what is it now over 300 issues, deal with spirituality without the catholic god. Like they have shingami , hollows, a different place where spirits go when they die and what happens to them. Like this shows entirety is deeply seeded in spirituality and things like the soul and reaping.

And I’m sure there are more out there, the other one i can think of is shaman king but thats so/so.

I won’t stop watching these shows even if I’m meant to but I’d like peoples thoughts on these kinds of shows and the larger effect that eastern cinema and media is having on the western world. Shows like bleach and naruto have insane followings, and very large underground followings in western culture, anyone who watches/reads anime/manga watches/reads Bleach. And the concepts of spirituality that it brings forth would be there.

Some people are easily influenced by this stuff i guess, if it is not a sin (i don’t know) it certainly moves us away from God.
