Given the current discussion - I’d like to attain an answer as to whether you guys believe it is a sin for someone to go and see an action movie for its pure action content. Therefore the individual knows the movie will be based around action where the majority of it consists of killing, guns, explosions etc. And obviously the individual goes to see this action movie because the action satisfy’s him\her and offers enjoyment.
I don’t know why anyone would want to watch someone
break the commandments for fun and enjoyment. Why
can’t they leave murder out of action movies?

Are you just trying to enjoy all the murder you can now because
there won’t be any in heaven? Will you be disappointed with
that?

I think this is different from nude/sex scenes in movies because they tend to actually arouse the viewer.

Generally speaking, I don’t think action movies with guns and killing typically inspire the viewer to violence the way movies with nudity/sex inspire the viewer to impure thoughts/acts.

Still, why do people like action movies? For dh and I it is to see, yet again, the good guy(s) win over the bad guy(s). I’m gonna list a few here that fit in that category. We don’t watch these to see the blood, the bullet enter the flesh, the slash of the blade, etc. We see them to cheer on the good guys.

Die Hard series
X-men series
Spiderman series
Superman series
Batman Begins
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Countless spy movies, govt agent movies, etc.

On the other hand, I have a hard time seeing any redeeming value in movies about real evil/demons/etc. or horror movies overflowing with gratuitous gore for gore’s sake.
