During Mass, someone papered our cars with “Heaven Speaks Today,” printed by St. Michael’s World Apostolate. Long story short, it tells us that Mary and Jesus told us, through the “Seer Veronica of the Cross” that we MUST receive communion only on our tongue, women MUST wear head coverings during Mass, we MUST kneel before receiving communion, and we should ONLY receive communion from an ordained priest. Someone else told me this was all wrong because it is telling us to go against the Church.
Who has heard of this? What do you think? Is that seer legit?

Is that seer legit?
No, she isn’t.

It is against forum rules to discuss unapproved private revelations.

FWIW the acquaintance who said it was wrong because her teachings are in contradiction with church teaching is correct.

MUST? Ummmm, nope. The Church has already spoken. Essentially, its putting faith in the Church before a private revelation. Having said this, I pray, pray, pray that that all those “musts” become the norm once again. But, the Church outweighs me, so I MUST be obedient to the Church.

Is Veronica the pillar and foundation of Truth? Or is the Church? Do we take disputes to Veronica? Or do we take them to the Church?

I think its clear as day. Learn from the Saints;

*St. Pio, you were so obedient to Holy Mother Church, even when it caused you a great deal of pain and suffering. Through your powerful intercessory prayer, petition the Lord our God for us, that He may grant us the graces necessary to imitate your most humble example, and be ever obedient to His Church. Amen. *

Magnum V8 has it right. This is a case of “private” revelation. The Church has made it clear that we are not, repeat NOT, required to believe in private revelations.
This applies to reports of the words spoken by Mary at various apparitions (only certain people hear what is said and the report is therefore of a private revelation), Padre Pio’s revelations and visions, etc.

The group that you are referring to supports and promotes the visions allegedly received by Veronica Lueken who lived in Bayside, New York. Starting in 1970 or so until her death in 1995, she claimed to have had numerous visions of the Virgin Mary numerous saints and several angels including the Arcangels Michael and I believe Gabriel. She delivered messages from all of them at both Saint Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Bayside, and at the Vatican Pavilion in Flushing Meadows Park as well as at her home. The visions were of the gloom and doom variety

These visions have apparently been condemned by the Church . Bishop Francis Mugavero, Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn, stated in 1986 that “a thorough investigation revealed that the alleged visions of Bayside completely lacked authenticity” and that “the messages and other related propaganda contain statements which, among other things, are contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church.”

I wouldn’t put any stock in what Veronica and her supporters say or said.

It would be beneficial if anyone saw who was papering the cars behind everyone’s back while they were in Mass. Then that person could be personally counselled against such behavior.

You can and it is a good thing but that doesn’t make it so that you have to.

The Church permits you otherwise so to be obedient you listen to the Church. It might be more respectful to receive communion that way but to say you must, now you are disrespecting the Church in allowing otherwise.

We should respect Christ and His Church. If you so desire you can receive that way, but don’t look down on others who do not, they are permitted to receive as the Church allows.

It would have been better for that person to go to Mass with your parish and be an example, but not run around leaving fliers, why couldn’t they stand outside offer fliers and perhaps a little debate? Wouldn’t that be a little more open to correction?

God Bless

One of he hallmarks of an authentic private revelation is that the apparition (Jesus, Mary, and angel or a saint, etc.) always conditions whatever they are asking on it not conflicting with the edicts of a superior. For example, the superiors of Sts. Faustina and Catherine Laboure at first would not permit them to publish their revelations–and in each case Jesus and Mary told them to obey their superiors.

So, by calling into question the authority of the Roman Pontiff and many bishops in union with him, the so called revelation exposes itself. Especially since it makes those practices out to be timeless truths when in fact they have not been universal practices in all times and places throughout the Church’s history.

Just to add, I did a little research and the “revelations” in the OP are from the ecclesiastically condemned Bayside, NY “apparitions.”

What the “seer” says is correct, but I doubt she received these revelations. The opposite of what is said is approved, yes, but hasn’t been good for the Church. No saint, or pope (as far as I know) recommends against those particular *statements *made by the “seer.” The popes may disagree with the “must” part, but that is only opinion.
