We say God answers prayers sometimes saying the answer is later but doesn’t he have knowledge of the future? Why does it never happen right after pray

If God is all knowing and knows the future then why is the common argument that he can be setting things in motion shouldn’t he be able to see the prayer request coming and if it aligns with his will it can happen right away?
 
Sure it could. Sometimes it does. Sometimes God wants it to occur at a particular time.
 
God’s time is not our time. Also, even though it seems we pray for good, there can be an ultimate good do our prayers not being answered with a yes. The ultimate results of Prayer is knowing that God Knows Best and sometimes the answer is no. If it is no, it is because God knows best. This can be hard to cope with when the result is Earthly suffering. However God uses Earthly suffering to perfect us and so the answer to all suffering is to turn to God.
 
This is something I’m going through. I want and desire results right away. I pray and tell myself I trust Jesus will give me what I’m asking for. I’m struggling at times restraining from having small doubts, this is what leads to me wanting to know if he will answer my prayer.

Finally, sometimes he wants you to wait and to keep praying in order to bring you closer. This has been my experience I guess, I always become super anxious but I understand that it’s always day by day and I feel somewhat better.

Because of His great love for souls, God always acts in our best interest. If He chooses to delay, it’s for either your good or the good of another soul. Waiting and trusting, especially when we must do so blindly, brings us graces. They give us strength for hard times and help us honor God.

I once prayed for a special favor I needed. I waited a very long time, but it came. Looking back, I wasn’t ready then so if I got it right when I asked for it, I would have wasted it. This was the right time.
 
I can empathize with your frustration in being stuck in time. We cannot fast-forward. Perhaps that’s a blessing to patiently accept the now and find joy in the little, hidden things.

Perhaps its “the common argument” because people don’t understand God’s response to prayer…Who says he does not answer immediately, but because of our frail humanity we can’t comprehend the fact.
 
Another reason is testing our resolve and patience. St. Monica prayed for decades before she received her request. Some people seem to get what they want, but they seem to show the same characteristic of patience and trust. They also don’t treasure their granted wish for themselves but use it for others. St. Theresa of Calcutta.
 
Someone once told me that God answers prayers in one of three ways : 1. Yes 2. No 3. Wait

i don’t know if “testing” is the appropriate term. God already know our patience, and our resolve. He have no need to test them, like an engineer would test his engine to know if its working as expected.
