Hi folks

I frequently get this pop up when logging onto CAF and am not permitted to venture further into the forum. Thus far I’ve been able to disable the Adblocker and proceed, even though I have no idea how it gets turned on in the first place. If I, in future, appear to have vanished, it’s not the rapture, it’ll be the adblocker. Any ideas how I can be rid of it for good?
 
When that happened to me, I hit the back button and it went away.

I hate sites that “notice I’m using and ad-blocker, and won’t I please white-list them because – you know – we’re not one of those bad sites, we’re a good site. We’re your buddy, your pal, your friend…”

To which I say: You first.
Promise me your ads will be unobtrusive. No pop-overs. No pop-unders. No interminably-slow-to-load videos. And especially no unexpected audio.
Promise me that, and I’ll white-list you.

And not one 👏 second 👏 sooner. 👏
 
You need to whitelist catholic.com for it to stay disabled while you browse. It will turn on every time you visit unless you tell it this site is to be permanently whitelisted.
 
You have to disable one script I never see ads
I decide what scrips run on MY computer not some site. It is my computer.

Fancy a not for profit, charitable, sole saving organisation like the Catholic religion, dictating the terms of commercialism. It seems like the not for profits have succumbed to the profiteers. Has CAF been hijacked by Capitalism?

It definitley left a bad taste in my mouth. The other option, aside from disabling the ad blocker, was to become a donor and shell out some cash every month. I didn’t care for that ultimatum either.

This is spot on. In fact, after moderation, platform, hosting, and maintenance, we still have to put a few grand more per month into this than what we bring in through ad revenue and donations combined. I’m sorry if I sound short in my responses, but I don’t think the folks who frequent these forums and complain about what I’ve been doing here fully understand the gravity of the situation.

Unfortunately, this is the reality.

What I found was that (when I wasn’t donating money), the pop up would come up even though I had no adblockers running. So I just used to refresh the page and everything worked fine. I’m not sure if it might just be a glitch if your adblocker is already disabled.

Must be a glitch, since even with it disabled I still got the pop up today. I would have no issues with donating to CAF if I were still working, but that is not the case just now.

That happened to me this morning. It was the second time. The first time was about a week ago. But I don’t have an ad blocker. I have never even attempted to install an ad blocker.
 
I use Google Chrome, but I don’t think it’s blocking any ads. Here at CAF I see ads all the time!
