Why does CAF have the most important link that would stop the continuous harassment of Traditional Catholics with the accusation of Excommunication leading to a Papal letter about Bio-Ethics instead of to the Papal document making it clear that ArchBishop LeFebvre’s excommunication was LIFTED in 2009?

Who is saying traditional Roman Catholics are excommunicated?? It seems I have missed some drama. I don’t mean to make light of your anger, but seriously, I would have thought it was the other way around? Whether or not people agree with TRCs, how can one deny their dedication and loyalty to the RCC??

Then again…the last time I missed drama I was not any better for finding out about it later…

Yeah. Whoever said that traditional Roman Catholics were excommunicated? That said, just because the SSPX’s excommunication was lifted doesn’t mean that they are back in full communion with the Church yet.

Well, there is no need to direct you to the threads because your impression of Traditional Catholicism is the peaceful one to which we are all entitled. But if you must go there, just look over the ones with titles like “Afraid of Tradition”, the polls demanding that people take sides pro or con, etc and the threads calling us an “impediment” you will see the repeated postings that should be deleted or locked off as soon as they appear, but they rarely are and they push us into defending ourselves against this calumny that CAF knows is calumny and slander, etc.

I think a full reading of Pope Benedict XVI’s letter is a beautiful statement on the whole issue.

It should be added that the SSPX Bishops were not excommunicated for being “traditional Roman Catholics”, but for directly disobeying the Pope. Furthermore, I do not believe there was ever a time where participants of the SSPX (i.e. people who attended their Masses) were excommunicated if there intention was to partake of the Tridentine Latine Mass (as opposed to a schismatic motivation).

A careful reading of Pope Benedict’s letter in its entirety adresses the serious confusion of the different types of excommunication and other ecclesiastic technicalities which most definitely should not be thrown at Catholics just because they become interested in the older rites.

I should think that every Catholic would want to experience different forms within the Vatican circle and settle to weekly Mass at the one that serves best.

I like TLM, but I was recently invited to a Cameroonian Mass (by a Cameroonian-American) and I certainly intend to go in full confidence of pleasantly fulfilling my Sunday obligation at the same time.

I have been to a TLM several times and there is something very good and special about it and I wish my home Diocese (one has to drive over to the next Diocese to attend the TLM) would promote the use of the TLM. I have never been to, but would like to attend, some of the Eastern Rite liturgies as well as an Anglican Use Mass.

As one discerning a possible call to the Priesthood, I would like to learn to properly celebrate both Forms of the Latin Rite.
