Am I missing something, but I cannot find a Web Bible link from Catholic Answers. You know like if I want the wording of Mathew 16:18-19 ? Then they normally have other info regarding that verse.

If you go to www.crosswalk.com, under the heading of On-Line Study Bible, you can get access to many different varieties. The Douay-Rheims, the Vulgate (in latin of course) and the Revised Standard Version can all be compared with each other or even the King James Version. As this is not a Catholic site, the NAB is not there. There is also a greek lexicon on this site that is most helpful when trying to compare apples and oranges, so to speak. Since some Protestants speak only King Jamesese, it is nice to be able to us it and compare to the DR for instance. I don’t think the RSV is the Catholic edition, but for NT study it is well accepted by both Catholics and Protestants alike.

Matthew 16:18 - 19
18 And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

19 I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Interestingly enough in my This Rock Mag for Mar05, “Why we have a ministerial Priesthood” page 29, shows Mat 16:18 as reading

“Whatever you bind on the earth will have been bound [estai dedemenon] in heaven and whatever you loose on the earth will
have been loosed [estai lehumenon ] in heaven”

The King James Version shows;
“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven:
and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

The “will have been loosed” is different than “shall be loosed” as the Protestant version shows. As the The Rock article states,
the tense of the verbs is different.

— Anyway - I think Catholic Answers ought to have a quick link somewhere to the Bible. I found the crosswalk.com site helpful, but I wouldn’t necessary want Catholic Answers to link there.

I don’t think bible.com should be a link either…
