To make a long story short, my family was caught in the whirlwind of the current mortgage crisis, and my aunt is living with us. Unfortunately, as much as we all do care about her, we’re all starting to get on each other’s nerves.
Today my aunt and I got in a huge argument. I came home to find my room reorganized, which wouldn’t have been a bad thing, except that I had no idea where everything was. She wasn’t in the room when i found out, and I lost my temper, which is really not like me. But I was alone, and didn’t think to tone it down. When I went downstairs to ask her about the room, I found out that she had heard me from my room, and she cried harder than I’d ever seen her cry in my life. I apologized, and she accepted, and told me to just pretend it never happened.
I know that fights like this happen in every house. We all step on each other’s toes sometimes. But I guess my question is, how can I make her feel like less of burden? She’s been so miserable here these past few months, and I’m sure that our fight today made her feel worse. I know that what I did was wrong, and that there’s no easy way to rectify the things that we said to each other. But I want to make this hard time easier on everyone, and I just don’t know how to avoid these kinds of ridiculous conflicts. I can’t just pretend that today never happened.
Thank you in advance. <3
