Were the demons named Legion destroyed?

I’m currently reading the Gospels, and Jesus casts out Legion from a possessed man, allowing them to enter into a herd of pigs that then drown. Does this mean the demons were destroyed? Seems that way, but it’s not explicit.
 
They were not annihilated as they are immortal and cannot be destroyed. You could say the “died” and probably went back to Hell. Whether they are still bound in Hell or not is a question for an exorcist.
 
I agree. Ask a exorcist.
The one thing about that story…
the entire town came out…saw Jesus standing next to the maniac, now, in his right mind and clothed…
and they asked Jesus to DEPART !

My take…they couldn’t believe meek Jesus - did - the impossible.

What does “destroyed” mean?
Evil angels cannot be destroyed can they.
They are immortal like our souls.
 
Jesus caused a lot of financial damage to whoever owned and looked after the pigs. And someone would need to clean up the resultant mess. Can’t imagine the locals would be happy about it.
 
I expect the demons were forced to return to Hell.
As for the townsfolk, they were probably scared of Jesus.

Spirits are never destroyed (annihilated).

Demons cannot be destroyed. They just left the pigs, and went back to hell probably.
 
Not really since they are immortal and are spirits and have been on this earth with the devil, they just moved on to somebody else.
 
I remember this monk got a glimpse of a demon -
( i’m sure there’s all sorts of different kinds )
but this one - almost - scared him - to death - just the utter shock -
its - appearance - was truly beyond all human thought -
so anyways, the monk screamed and screamed, all his pals awoke,
they entered his cell,
but he was inconsolable - he just couldn’t believe it.
